GERTRUDE EDERLE

Gertrude Caroline Ederle was born in Manhattan on the 23th of October 1905, and she died on November 30th, 2003 (she had 98 years old).
She was an American competition swimmer, olympic champion and world record-holder in five events.
She was the first woman to swim across the English Chanel.
Her friends call her “Trudy” or “Gertie”, and people call her “Queen of the waves”.
She was the third of six children and her parents were German inmigrants.
Her father was Henry Ederle, and her mother was Gertrude Anna Habertroh.
She had never married.

She was buried in the Woodlawn cemetery in The Bronx, New York City.

My free time activities I don’t practice any activity with people, but I practice at home. I really love rhythmic gymnastics and draw. I love to draw because I can create whatever I want in a paper, and that’s really cool. In rhythmic gymnastics I can so some sport and relax. Drawing I learn to be more creative and with rhythmic gymnastics I learn that if I want, I can do whatever I want, and if it’s really hard, with effort I can do it.

I met my friend Claudia last summer. I was in the sign of cd's of Gemeliers, and she was in front of me. We had to wait some hours to meet Gemeliers, because there were too many people, so I started to talk to her because I was bored, and inmediately we took confidence. After that day we meet on holidays or some weekends, because she live in Ceuta. She's a really good friend, she's really dependable and enthusiastic. Also she's very optimistic and nice.
